The Takam Mising Porin Kebang temporarily suspended its road and economic blockade against Arunachal Pradesh following talks with the Assam government and civil society groups of the neighbouring state. The organisation had announced the indefinite blockade from 5 am on August 12 in protest against the alleged firing at Badati-Mingmang along the inter-state border in Dhemaji district, in which 12 people from Assam were injured. After meetings at the Dhemaji deputy commissioner's office with Border Protection Minister Atul Bora and Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, and at Likabali on the initiative of the Adi Students' Union with TMPK, Galo bodies and other unions, TMPK said it received assurances of immediate action. The organisation set a 48-hour deadline for the arrest of the four accused named in the incident and sought a fair, transparent and time-bound investigation, stressing that the stir was for justice and border-area security and not directed at the common people of Arunachal Pradesh.
