The Takam Mising Porin Kebang has demanded a scientific assessment of the environmental and downstream impact of large-scale projects in Arunachal Pradesh following devastating flash floods on the North Bank. Student leaders met Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Jonai and submitted a memorandum seeking immediate central assistance and a permanent solution to recurring floods in Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts. The memorandum flagged large-scale tree felling, sand and stone extraction from rivers, saw mills and big dams in the Siang, Dibang and Subansiri valleys, and listed affected river systems including the Jiadhal, Simen, Dimow and Subansiri. TMPK sought a joint high-level committee of the Centre, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh governments with hydrologists and disaster-management experts, and a scientific river-management plan for downstream protection. The organisation clarified it is not opposed to development in Arunachal Pradesh but insisted that downstream impacts must be studied and safeguards implemented.
